“It was a rainy Halloween night—the wind was blowing fiercely outside. Suddenly, there was a strange noise in my kitchen, just loud enough to disturb the dogs. The littlest one was the only one brave enough to creep into the kitchen with me to inspect what had made the noise. I went into the kitchen and this is what I found!”
What did Patricia E. from Chillicothe, Missouri, tell us she found in her kitchen? The winners of our Halloween giveaway, of course—these creepy crawly THRIVE chocolate spiders! We loved her fun Halloween use of THRIVE, and if you’ve got Macaroon Mix in your pantry you can whip some up for a sweet and spooky Halloween treat!
THRIVE Chocolate Spiders
1 ½ c. THRIVE Macaroon Cookies mix
3 tsp. cocoa powder
¼ c. boiling water
2 c. crispy rice cereal
Chow mein noodles
Preheat oven to 275⁰F. In a medium-sized bowl, mix the macaroon mix and cocoa together. Pour in the boiling water and stir well. Allow to sit for 5 minutes, then add 2 more tablespoons of water and mix well. Quickly mix in the rice cereal.
Take rounded spoonfuls and gently pat the mixture into balls. Flatten a little and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20 minutes.
Immediately after taking out of oven, insert chow mein noodles into the warm cookies for the spider legs. Work quickly before the cookies cool—you may need some Halloween goblins to help you. Allow to cool and place candy eyes on your spiders, using frosting to stick them on. Makes approximately 15 spiders.

Michele M. sent us a picture of the fantastic vegan bundt cakes she made for a preschool cake walk—they’re even vegan, fitting our October specials theme! “I used a semi-shelf-stable baking mix and THRIVE powered sugar to make a glaze to drip on the top and hold the sprinkles and candies in place,” she told us. “I love creating these cakes for the kids because they have such a great time deciding which one to choose. Hot summer weather has finally come to an end in San Diego and now it is Halloween/Fall time. I love this time of year because it gets me back into the baking mood!”
Denise I. shared this fun Halloween clip with us. Watch an especially spooky consultant sell her friend on THRIVE!
