I remember the waiter bringing a bowl of tortilla chips and salsa to the table but not recognizing what was placed in front of me. The ingredients in Herdez Salsa are not only fresh, but also simple, essentially nothing more than what you’d use at home save a little pectin as a thickening agent and citric acid, which serves to act both as a preservative and to add a little acidity.

What I love about salsa is that it makes a simple pairing to lots of different foods. It can be used as a topping for eggs whether they’re fried, scrambled, or poached. It also makes a great omelet filling. Salsa goes great on top of fish or chicken, either warm or cold. Use as a topping for burgers, roast beef or meatloaf. Try replacing the tomato sauce for homemade pizza or use salsa as a sandwich filling: pitas and wraps work best.
